On the morning of February 23rd, the company held a safety meeting to quickly convey the spirit of the emergency meeting on coal mine safety production held by the Panzhou Municipal Government on the evening of February 22nd. Qu Jiabi, the deputy general manager of the company's safety, conveyed the safety instructions and directives of General Secretary Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang, as well as the requirements of leaders at all levels of Panzhou City for safety work.
At around 13:00 on February 22, a large-scale collapse occurred in the open-pit coal mine of Xinjing Coal Industry Co., Ltd. in Alxa Left Banner, Alxa League, Inner Mongolia. As of 19:22 on February 22, the accident has caused 2 deaths, 6 injuries, and 53 missing persons.
We need to scientifically organize rescue efforts, strengthen monitoring and early warning, and prevent secondary disasters from occurring. We need to quickly identify the cause of the accident, hold those responsible accountable, and take a comprehensive approach to eliminate management loopholes.
Premier Li Keqiang of the State Council has issued instructions: There are many missing persons in this accident, and we must make every effort to search and rescue the buried people, ensure rescue safety, and properly handle the aftermath. At the same time, quickly identify the cause of the accident, timely and accurately release information, and handle it seriously in accordance with the law and regulations. The National People's Congress and the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference are about to be held. The State Council Work Safety Committee and the Ministry of Emergency Response should urge all regions to fully implement safety production responsibilities and measures, increase efforts to rectify major hidden dangers, resolutely prevent major accidents from occurring, and ensure the safety of people's lives and property.
